This saber measures 36 5/8” overall with a 32” single fuller spear point blade and retains almost all of its original bright polished finish with light scabbard scratches along the foible, the reverse ricasso retains a crisp Weyersberg maker mark. The brass hilt features a lion’s head pommel with red glass eyes, floral backstrap, knucklebow, ferrule, and crossguard with dual langets, the obverse langet showing army eagle with clutched swastika and a black plastic grip wrapped in double bordered twisted aluminum wire. The hilt retains a modest amounts of gold wash, with the exposed brass surfaces having a dark ochre patina. The grip and wrappings remain in very good condition with light handling marks and mild wear. The steel scabbard remains in very good condition perhaps 70% original black enamel flaking to brown with scattered light oxidation and a couple minute dings.
